Following the remarkable success in the SGDF Singapore Open series in previous years, the Singapore DanceSport Federation (SGDF) is organising the 6th SGDF Singapore Open DanceSport Championships. This will be the sixth time in eight years that this highly anticipated series is being organised.

The 6th SGDF Singapore Open DanceSport Championships will be held on Sunday 31 July 2005, in the Padang/Collyer Rooms of the Raffles City Convention Centre.

A very distinguished panel of adjudicators will comprise reknown dancesport personalities from Singapore and around the World.

This year, the 6th SGDF Singapore Open will feature the highly prestigious 2005 IDSF Asian Pacific DanceSport Championships. The top two Grade A Standard and top two Grade A Latin couples will be nominated by the respective Asian Pacific IDSF member federations, to compete for the title of Asian Pacific Champion 2005.

The IDSF Open World Ranking Championships were first introduced in 1993 to rank DanceSport competitors worldwide. In this ranking system, all competitors are given ranking points, which will be accumulated over a one-year period. At any one time, the total aggregate points of a couple will determine the couple’s position in world rankings.

Entries have already been received from some of the top ranking competitors from all over the world, including entries from England, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Chinese Taipei, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Germany and of course Singapore.

The following events will constitute the championships:
