IDSF General Secretary Reports

The train to Olympia is no Express train!  On many occasions and on many places DanceSport enthusiasts juggle with the Olympic Rings and have the vision that our DanceSport Athletes are integrated in the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games.

But - according to the rules which are valid at present the time schedule looks unfortunately as follows:

In September 2001 DanceSport may receive by the IOC the recognition as Olympic Program Sport.  In September 2001 IOC may as well accept the possible including DanceSport into the Olympic Games.  In September 2005 IOC may decide the participation of our DanceSport Athletes at the next Olympic Games provided the Guestcountry accepts this participation as well.

The earliest possible participation of DanceSport in the Olympics could so be imagined for the year 2008.

Well, this time schedule complies with the rules valid to-day.  But nowadays in our fast-running time and knowing the IOC as a very flexible body, we should not give up our hope, that in the meantime the rules could be changed.  But it is still very advisable to postpone the packing of the luggage for the journey to Olympia for a further while!
